Habitat for these brook trout:
Spring –
after ice out - close to the surface of the lake after
insect hatch – may jump out of the water to catch the
insects. This is the time of year that fly fishermen dream
about in the winter.
Summer – will
spend the summer in deep, cool water (over 20 feet) and feed
on bottom aquatic insects and smaller fish.
Fall –
on spawning shoals – shallow gravel beds where the males and
females are easily visible from the shoreline.

These pictures of trophy mounts of
brook trout were caught by Dennis Le
Feuvre in Northern Quebec
weighing in between 6 to 8 lbs. Our local brook trout look
the same but are much smaller, about 1 to 4 lbs.
A
sample of one of our local trout caught by Lynn Newman is on
our home page.
